Accra, Ghana – August 18, 2025 — “We are the first generation with the power to end poverty and the last with the chance to stop climate change,” declared Daniel Owiredu, Programs and Partnership Manager at GreenAd, as he challenged students of Accra High School to embrace bold, transformative action for a sustainable future.

This passionate call to action was delivered during a session on Understanding the SDGs & Youth Action at this year’s International Youth Day celebration, organized by the National Youth Delegate of Ghana in partnership with the All-Africa Students Union (AASU).

Preparing Students for Sustainable Action

The event, themed “Local Youth Actions for the SDGs and Beyond: Preparing Students for Sustainable Actions in Ghana,” brought together a diverse group of students, educators, and thought leaders dedicated to shaping a resilient and sustainable nation.

Distinguished speakers at the celebration included:

• Madam Evelyn Sagbil Nabia, Headmistress of Accra High School

• Bridget Nana Yaa Wilson, National Youth Delegate – Ghana, Commonwealth Youth Council

• Jemilatu Mamshie Bawa, COO of the All-Africa Students Union

• Mr. Inusah Mahama, Deputy CEO of the National Youth Authority

• Eric Kwesi Taylor, CEO of Penyman Group Limited

Penyman’s Commitment to Youth and Sustainability

Representing Penyman Group Limited, Mr. Eric Kwesi Taylor emphasized the crucial role of youth empowerment, education, and entrepreneurship in advancing the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
